The 16th Asia media summit that kicked-off in Cambodia today is deliberating on many issues pertaining to the media and broadcasting industry.
In one of the sessions in which Ministers of Information from Cambodia, Mayanmar, Bangladesh and Samoa participated, the plenary discussed on the current situations in developing markets as to adapt to the new technological possibilities. The Ministers also presented the digital trends in the broadcasting sector in their respective countries.
In a session on Disinformation and New Media, Mr. Masato Kajimoto a professor in Journalism, University of Hong Kong said that those who are engaged in creating the information disorder are taking full advantage of how trust can be manipulated as much as information itself. He said that measures like transparency by the Government and Media literacy training to teachers will help in combating misinformation to some extent.
Envisioning the media in the 4th Industrial revolution, Darren ong, an industry expert said that placing consumer interests at the centre of decision making is crucial to online environment. He added that finding new audiences 24×7 and enabling the local content to travel globally became crucial to any online platform. As per one of the experts on Radio, delivering ‘watchable’ radio content is becoming order of the day. This necessitates that the talent in Radio should be both heard and seen on multiple social media platforms.
Dr. Andrew Yew, a virtual reality expert who participated in the summit said that user experience is very important for Virtual reality augmented reality and mixed reality and it is determined by the factors like interactivity, gestural congruence, spatial awareness and immersion experience. The three day summit began today in Siem Reap, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Hun Sen.
