Gujarat: At least 13 killed in major fire tragedy in Surat; PM Modi expresses extreme anguish

In Gujarat, at least 13 persons killed and several others injured in a major fire breakout at a commercial complex in Sarthana area of Surat. 

According to sources, fire breaks out on the second floor of Takshshila apartment, where about 50 students attending private dance classes. About 17 teams of firefighters rushed to the spot to control the fire and rescue works. Injured people mostly students have been admitted to the hospitals. 

The cause of the fire is not known until now. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed extreme anguish at the fire tragedy in Surat. 

In a tweet, he said his thoughts are with the bereaved families and hoped that the injured recover quickly. Mr Modi said, he has asked the Gujarat government and local authorities to provide all possible assistance to those affected.
