India retain top position in ICC test rankings after clean sweep against West Indies

India have made a superb start to the World Test Championship beating the West Indies 2-NIL in the two-match test series. Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, a 257-run win in the second test match not only helped Indian team sweep the series, but also put them on top of the championship points table.

With 120 points from two games, India lead the nine-team table. New Zealand and Sri Lanka, who shared their series in Sri Lanka 1-1, follow with 60 points each. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has surpassed Mahendra Singh Dhoni to become India’s most successful Test skipper after India’s win in the second and final test against the West Indies at Kingston.

The 28 wins have come from 48 matches for Kohli as captain. His predecessor Dhoni led India to 27 wins from 60 Test matches during his tenure.
