Japan’s Kento Momota retains his Badminton Asia Ch’ship

There was  double golden delight for Japan at Badminton Asia Championships on Sunday. 

World number one Kento Momota retained his Badminton Asia Championships title in Shanghai on Saturday. 

He defeated Shi Yuqi of China 21-12, 11-11, 21-18.  There was more joy for Japan at Wuhan, as Yamaguchi, a silver medallist two years ago,  won the women’s crown with an emphatic victory over home player He Bingjiao 21-19, 21-9.

Men and women badminton players now have their eyes on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with the 12-month qualification period starting tomorrow.
