K’taka, Goa crisis: Congress stages Rajya Sabha walkout
congress today raised the issues related to the political situation in Karnataka and Goa in the Rajya Sabha.
When the house met, Congress leader Anand Sharma raised the issue alleging that the elected government is being destabilized in Karnataka. He said the situation in Karnataka and Goa is an assault on democracy.
Responding to it, Information and Broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javadekar took a dig at Congress asking, who is the President of the party, an apparent reference to Rahul Gandhi’s resignation. He wondered how BJP can be responsible for the current situation of Congress.
Later, Congress members staged a walkout from the house over the issue.
Congress also staged a protest outside Parliament. Several top leaders of the party including United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Anand Sharma protested in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue.
Speaking to media, Rahul Gandhi said that they are protesting against the on-going political situation in Karnataka and Goa.
Shashi Tharoor of Congress accused BJP is toppling democratically elected Karnataka Government.
He said their protest on the streets and inside the Parliament will continue on the issue. Earlier, TMC, SP, NCP, RJD, CPI(M) also protested in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament against BJP Government.
