National Junior Squash Championship gets underway in Chennai

The Chennai leg of the National Junior Squash Championship began in Chennai yesterday. Prithvi Kothari defeated Nirvaan Doshi 9-11, 11-3, 11-6, 11-5. Both 12-year-olds, belong to Tamil Nadu. It is for the first time that some tribal children are taking part in the tournament. The seven-day tournaments will go on till Tuesday.

In the HCL-SRFI squash championship, Mahesh Mangaonkar will take on top seed Ivan Yuen of Malaysia for the title clash today in Chennai. In the semifinals of the PSA Challenger Tour tournament held yesterday, Mahesh defeated Harinder Pal Sandhu 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7. Earlier, the Malaysian top seed Ivan Yuen won over Aditya Jagtap 11-2, 11-9, 12-10.
