Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the NDA government at the Centre ensured the welfare of the Odiyas and launched development projects in the state. He criticised Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha government for not cooperating with the Centre to bring about speedy development in the state. He was addressing an election rally at Bhawanipatna in West Odisha.
Calling upon the people to vote for the double-engine government of the BJP at the Centre and the state, Mr Modi said Odisha should repeat the history created by Uttar Pradesh in 2017 and Tripura in 2018.
Listing his government’s achievements, he said the NDA the government has constructed pucca homes for eight lakh families, provided power connections to 24 lakh homes and gas connections to 40 lakh mothers and sisters.
In the last five years, bank accounts were opened for 1 crore 40 lakh people, toilets were built in 50 lakh homes, and women’s safety was ensured. He added that more than 4 hundred Ekalabya model schools have been opened to provide quality education to tribal students.
Mr Modi said under the Congress rule, middlemen benefitted largely and people had to migrate to other states leaving their families. Assembly elections in Odisha will be held along with Lok Sabha polls in four phases – on April 11, 18, 23 and 29
