PM Modi to participate in Jan Aushadhi Diwas celebrations through video conferencing today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in Jan Aushadhi Diwas celebrations today through video conferencing from New Delhi.
Mr Modi will interact with seven Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana Kendras. In order to celebrate achievements of the scheme and provide further impetus, the 7th of March is proposed to be celebrated as Janaushadhi Diwas across India.
The Prime Minister will interact with store owners and beneficiaries at selected stores. Every Jan Aushadhi outlet will also telecast the message of the Prime Minister through Doordarshan. In select stores, panel discussions with doctors, media persons, pharmacists and beneficiaries will be organized about these medicines.
AIR Correspondent reports, on the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas today, Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister DV Sadananda Gowda will participate in Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana Kendra at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh whereas Union State minister Mansukh Mandaviya will be at a Jan Aushadhi Kendra at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jan Aushadhi Kendras are considered to be the biggest retail pharma chain in the world with around 6,200 outlets in 700 districts. Total sales in the current financial year have already crossed Rs 390 crore.
Jan Aushadhi Kendras have not only has saved almost Rs 2,200 crore of common citizens but have also provided a reliable source of self employment with sustainable and regular earnings for many others.
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Pariyojna was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the objective of making high-quality medicines available to all at affordable prices, especially to the poor and underprivileged, through exclusive outlets of Jan Aushadhi Medical Stores.
